A small band is placed on internal hemorrhoidal tissue above the highly sensitive area. The treated tissue loses its blood supply and later separates. Banding does not treat every external lump or skin tag.
What should I disclose before treatment?
Mention blood thinners, bleeding disorders, allergies, medicines and previous procedures. Do not stop anticoagulants yourself. Ask whether multiple sessions may be needed and which symptoms could remain.
When should I seek help afterwards?
Mild discomfort or limited bleeding can occur. Severe pain, fever or difficulty urinating needs urgent assessment. Heavy bleeding can also occur several days later. Obtain written advice and a contact before leaving.
