What does grade III mean?
Internal hemorrhoids prolapse during bowel movements and need manual reduction rather than returning spontaneously. Grade describes prolapse, not bleeding burden, pain or external disease. Examination distinguishes it from rectal prolapse.
Banding or surgery?
Banding may suit selected grade III cases. Surgery is discussed for persistent symptoms, substantial external disease or unsuitable simpler options. Stool regulation and reducing straining remain important.
What outcome matters to me?
Identify bleeding, protrusion, cleaning difficulty or reduction as your main concern. Ask which symptoms the procedure addresses and whether external tissue or repeat treatment may remain. Acute pain with irreducible tissue needs urgent assessment.
