How does it differ from open surgery?

Laparoscopy uses smaller incisions, instruments and a camera to perform the required operation. The treatment goal, including appropriate cancer resection when relevant, remains central. Incision size alone is not a quality measure.

Is conversion a failure?

Opening the abdomen may be a safety decision because of anatomy, adhesions, bleeding or disease extent. Discuss this possibility beforehand; completion by laparoscopy cannot be guaranteed.

What should I ask before surgery?

Clarify the segment removed, reconnection, possible stoma, pathology results and recovery. Bring medicines and prior operation details. Increasing postoperative pain with fever, persistent vomiting or systemic deterioration requires urgent team contact.
