The operation name changes the interpretation
An open wound may be intentional after fistulotomy, while drainage is part of a loose seton’s purpose. Follow-up after a closure procedure differs. Compare recovery only with the procedure actually performed.
What should I monitor?
Track trends in pain, swelling, discharge and continence rather than one wound photograph. Worsening pain after improvement or a new lump needs review. Fever, heavy bleeding or systemic illness warrants urgent assessment.
When is non-healing considered?
This depends on the procedure, examination and recovery trajectory, not a universal deadline. Bring the operation report and symptom record, and ask what will establish healing or justify new imaging.
