Is this just Kegel exercise?
Biofeedback uses information about muscle performance to teach a specific function. For evacuation dyssynergia it coordinates pushing with relaxation, rather than simply strengthening. Continence training may have different goals.
How do I know it is appropriate?
Assessment and sometimes functional tests guide selection. Clarify the target: less straining, better emptying or improved control. Sessions and home practice should be individualised.
How can benefit be measured?
Track toilet time, assistance and incomplete emptying, or leakage episodes for continence treatment. Discuss difficulties with the therapist. Lack of progress warrants reassessing the diagnosis and training rather than randomly increasing squeezing exercises.
